Update: Academic Board is being sidelined

Following the meeting of Academic Board (AB) in September 2025, reported on here, where staff voted 67.5% in favour of pausing EASE (with 21.7% against and 10.8% abstaining; 314 voting), UCL Senior Management returned to AB in October with documents aimed at addressing AB concerns. Those reassurances were deemed inadequate by AB which re-affirmed that EASE should be paused, this time with an increased majority of 81% (16% against, 3% abstaining; 344 voting).

Consequently, the AB request to pause EASE was tabled at a meeting of UCL Council, UCL’s governing body. UCL Council, however, ruled against AB and in favour of Senior Management to let the EASE agenda roll on, raising questions about UCL governance.
